Thank you to everyone who submitted an abstract!

Abstract submissions for the 2026 competition are now closed. We were thrilled by the response from residents, fellows and medical students across Texas. Here’s what happens between now and the conference on Saturday, November 7.

What Happens Next

Step 1

Judging & Notification

Every abstract is being reviewed now. The TAO office will email each applicant to let you know whether your abstract was selected for a platform presentation or a poster.

Step 2

Poster Instructions

Poster presenters will receive poster requirements by email. The TAO office prints all approved posters and displays them at the conference — please do not print or bring your own.

Step 3

Present in Houston

Join us on Saturday, November 7 at the Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria to present your work and connect with faculty and colleagues. Platform presenters compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Competition Day — November 7

Starting 8:00 AM

Poster Session

All accepted posters are on display throughout the day. Presenters must stand with their posters during the refreshment breaks to share their work and answer questions from attendees.

4:00 PM

Platform Presentations

The top three abstracts are presented from the podium — 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes for Q&A — and are eligible for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place certificates.

All presenters must attend in person — there is no virtual option. Platform presenters must be present to win.

Come Cheer On the Presenters

Registration for residents, fellows and medical students is $50, refunded after the conference. Register online by October 26, 2026 — after that, registration is on-site only.

TAO resident members can also claim a $200 stipend toward hotel and travel.
